Electronista одна из первых получила новый Core i5 iMac и уже успела его протестировать.
Не будет сюрпризом, что модель Core i5 субъективно быстрее, особенно для пользователей настольных маков с мобильными процессорами Intel, которыми Apple комплектовала ранние iMac и Mac Mini. Большинство программ загружаются почти мгновенно. Впечатлило и быстродействие Expose.
Наличие четырехядерного процессора не сказалось на “шумности” компьютера. Даже при запуске 3D рендеринга в CINEBENCH R10 – тест, который задействует процессор и графику, iMac практически не шумел. По всей видимости, не последнюю роль в этом играет размер корпуса 27″ iMac, куда удалось поместить огромный алюминиевый радиатор, который предотвращает перегрев.
Тестам подверглись старый 24″ iMac 2.4Ггц Core 2 Duo (3Гб RAM и Radeon HD 2600XT) и новый 27″ iMac 2.66Ггц (Core i5, 4Гб RAM и Radeon HD 4850). На обоих маках установлена Mac OS X 10.6.2.
В тесте с одним ядром Core i5 iMac 27″ оказался на 10% быстрее, в соответствии с разницей частот. При тестировании маков в полную силу, разница оказалась гораздо существенней! Во многих случаях 27-дюймовая модель оказалась от 2.5 до 3 раз быстрее своего предшественника двухлетней давности. Не удивительно, что и графика Radeon HD 4850 обошла Radeon HD 2600XT.
